Circa 1780

This is a Very Pretty Fine Quality 18th Century Georgian Highly Ornate Bilston Battersea Enamel Etui, crafted circa 1780 making it over 230 years old, This rare Etui i believe may once held a scent perfume bottle, the body has the most beautiful Ornate Enamel decoration, the Etui has a wonderful pink enamel ground with a blue oval decoration to the body and to the top on both sides with cream enamel dotted border decoration and to the centre a dark enamel oval with a central cream dotted flower, the cream enamel dots have a gold finish so very pretty, to the sides and running up the arched hinged lid you will see cream enamel foliage, on opening the hinged lid you will see the inside of the body is finished in a cream enamel and the inside of the lid still retains its stunning green enamel, its stunning, the hinge is in lovely condition and the lid still stays open and has no play, this i believe would have once held a small glass scent bottle and been used daily many years ago by a lady of the 18th century,the quality of the craftsmanship is superb . This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice...

Condition,....For it\'s early age the box is overall in fine condition with no repairs, it has some loss to the top section on one side as you can see and the normal surface wear expected , that being said it doesnt detract at all from its rare beauty, just mentioned for accuracy
