An impressive, gorgeous, and quite rare antique porcelain sculpture of a seated Monkey looking contemplatively at a turtle. This sculpture is likely a depiction of the rather moroffer folklore tale of the Monkey and the Turtle, the moral of the story essentially being to not be selfish.

The sculpture was designed by the Danish sculptor Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen (1874-1960) and produced by Bing & Grondahl in Copenhagen, circa the early second half of the 20th century.The figures were decorated with the technique of under glaze painting over a porcelain body.

Overall, very good condition. There is a small hairline on the underside along one of the toes, possibly a manufacturing defect. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
