Up for sale is a nice quart size crown top beer bottle from the Gambrinus Brewing Co. of Portland, Oregon. This bottle is mint with no damage and clean glass. It is embossed S. B. & G. Co. on the base for Streator Bottle & Glass Co. of Streator, Illinois, and it has a faint 99 embossed at the base which would date this bottle to 1899. This makes it a pretty early crown. top bottle. The bottle has a nice, fancy G B Co. monogram that makes it a pretty attractive slug plate. The name “Gambrinus” used by this brewery comes from a legend of a European king named Gambrinus who is associated with beer in various ways. Gambrinus Brewing Co. was in business from the late 1800s until approximately 1915-1919. Please see my other sales for more bottles and related items.
