1915 San Francisco Pan Pacific - Omaha Ne Liberty Bell Visit Souvenir For Sale
1915 San Francisco Pan Pacific - Omaha NE Liberty Bell Visit Souvenir For sale is a silk ribbon and tiny Liberty Bell souvenir for the Liberty Bell's visit to Omaha, Nebraska on July 9, 1915 on its way by train tothe San Francisco Pan Pacific Exposition. The Liberty Bell made numerous stops along its trip to and from San Francisco (and San Diego ) and eachcity had its own way of welcoming the icon of Liberty. This souvenir is from the Liberty Bell's stop in Omaha. Measures 4 inches in length including the ribbon and small metal Liberty Bell. The souvenir is attached to a card on which someone has written: "Liberty Bell in Omaha July 9, 1915. On display at 10th Jackson on July 8 it was 139 years since it was rung. Now on way to exposition. Paid 5 centsfor sovenir" The card itself was not part of the purchase of the souvenir...it looks like whoever purchased it attached it to the card with the hand-written note. The back of the card is an announcement of the death of someone local and is dated July 5, 1915. (Historically, the Liberty Bell was not rung on July 4th, but on July 8th when the Declaration of Independence was read to the public in Philadelphiaon the steps of Independence Hall.) The silk ribbon is in very good shape and the hand-written note gives it provenance. Neat historical piece of Liberty Bell history. Shipping via USPS Priority Mail to US locations.
