-Hope Chest opens up from the top 14 ½ inches deep and has alower drawer so you can store bedding, clothes, etc. A very rare and uniquepiece of furniture.

-It is in very goodcondition. It was made in January, 1937 (found on the underside of drawer). Itis a very rare find. It is on small caster wheels.

-Detailed workmanship all around the top. Beautiful flowerspainted on the front. Intricate detail along the front of the drawer and on allfour legs.

-40 inches wide, 19 inches (front to back), 13 ½ inches tall.

We love this piece; it was handed down throughfamily. Unfortunately, cannot keep. Noroom in our house. If our house wasbigger we would have kept this.
Payment made at pickup:History:The North American Bent Chair Co. was established in Owen Sound in 1891 by two brothers, the Messrs. Hay (formerly of Woodstock). By 1894, it was considered one of the Empire\'s biggest furniture producers and was exporting chairs across the Dominion of Canada and to countries like England, Australia, New Zealand and South America. At that time, steam bent cane chairs and perforated cane seat chairs were their line. In 1899, the building burnt down. The company re-built and continued producing furniture, usually dining room furniture, library furniture and living room furniture.The company was situated along 1st Ave. West and 14th St. West. The company ceased in 1945, and the building was sold to the RCA Victor Company. The building was torn down in 1980.
