1947 Gibson J 45 70 year old Vintage Guitar :

This is a 1947 Gibson J 45. The top and back were made before the war, and the sides and neck were made after the war. The top and back have lacquer that is beautifully crazed. The sides and neck have thin lacquer that has worn off in places over the years ( see photos ). There has never been any touch ups to the finish of any kind anywhere on this guitar. The bridge and bridge plate were replaced ten years ago by SchoenbergGuitars in Tiburon, CA. ( they take care of guitars for The GratefulDead, Bonnie Raitt, Santana, etc. ) The frets at that time were done as well using the same fret wire from the 1940\'s as was used on the guitar originally. The top is AdirondackSpruce from the early 1940\'s. The sides and back are Mahogany. The top and one piece back were made and lacqueredbefore the war and the guitar was completed after the war and fitted with the post war Gibson logo on the head stock. This guitar has been played. For this reason the sound is warm and rich with a lot of shimmer and dynamics in the tone. The guitar is set up for80/20 bronze strings ( .012 - .052 ).
