This is a vintage 1950\'s Cleveland / Johnson fare box,with new paint and new chromed vinyl script. These were found mounted inside the door of transit vehicles for the sole purpose of collecting fares. Newer versions are still in use today.Condition is very good. Drop in your coins and watch the clinking of the coins fall to the viewing area for operator confirmation of the correct amount. The coins can then be dropped through the trap door to the removable vault for safe keeping via the side mounted vault drop lever, or left to view adding more coins on top before dropping all to the vault. A great piece to save all your loose change,and makes an excellent bank,tip collector container,fund raising donation collection vessel, safe,or just a great display piece.All metal and glass construction. Bronze vault top and a wooden base. The wooden base allows the box to set nicely on a counter top without causing any damage to the surface but can be removed to allow bolting to a floor or other solid surface. Built to last forever,or at least a very long time. Approx. size,7\" x 8\" x 35\" tall. Working lock and key on front door. The vault lock has been disabled for home use, but the vault lid still snaps shut upon removal,as designed. Coins NOT INCLUDED. This is a heavy item and will be shipped in two pieces,see pics, to accommodate a smaller box thus reducing shipping cost. The two pieces go back together easily using the two provided bolts,and you\'ll get a perfect view of the workings of the trap door assembly before you reassemble it. Fare boxes are gaining in popularity and the prices will only go up as a result. I don\'t think you\'ll be disappointed with this one. Most are offered in rough condition.
