1961 Airstream Bambi:
$4000.00

This is your shot at a rare, 1961 Bambi. This model, restored, has brought as much as $43,000. I bought it 11 years ago to fix up, but life just keeps happening and now it is your turn. Everything is there but the door, heater vent and water tank, stolen in January. Curses on the thieves! However, the lights, the toilet, the sewage tank, the internal appliances, skylights, shower, fixtures, all the expensive detail stuff, most everything else is here. I was going to install a floor-mounted heat pump/air conditioner, not a roof-mount. You can use the original cabinets as patterns and use the old belly pan as a pattern or re-install it. You could also remake them to suit yourself, but at least you have the curves to reference! There are numerous websites for buying the right rivets, new aluminum, any thing you can think of.Everything will fit into the shell, which you can tow anywhere. Be prepared to spend a great winter restoring this little darling, because next Spring you will be one of only a few hundred in the world to own a first-year Bambi. From the pictures you can see that the lower internal panels were removed. They are all here, you can see them in the picture against the garage door. The Bambi sat on a plywood floor, with an aluminum channel around the perimeter. The body was riveted to the channel. When I disassembled it, the channel was very corroded (a new on can be made easily). I took it all off the frame, sandblasted and painted and what you see is the body temporarily affixed to the plywood floor. You can use the floor as a pattern for a better plywood, or as the floor, but I put it there to provide stiffness for towing. There are rare goodies on the shell. The antenna crank, the little mushroom vent over the bathroom, the battery box up front, on and on. The windows all are there. The internal light sconces are there. Folks, other than the missing items this is pretty complete and ready for restoration and modernization. The little dent on the left rear can be easily tapped out and remember, that old aircraft-grade aluminum skin can be polished to a mirror shine. If you have the talent and ambition to own it, offer. I ask only for a $200 non-refundable deposit (covers listing cost) and the balance in cash or cashier\'s check when you come pick it up. If you need it delivered, we\'ll talk about it, but I can\'t go more than a few hundred miles from Gadsden, AL. However, I need full payment before moving it, as you can understand. Clear title. You can spend tens of thousands on somebody else\'s Bambi, or do this one yourself and pass it to your grandchildren years from now. It is being offered locally and I reserve the right to sell it at any time if the reserve has not been met. Good luck and please, PLEASE give it a good home. This old girl needs you!

FOLKS, THIS IS A CHANGE IN THE DESCRIPTION: I am having a heck of a time editing the listing, but this is important. I have been unable to find the title. It was last registered in Georgia in 2004. A call there tells me that they do not require titles for older trailers, and since it was ten years ago, they may never have issued me one. I now live in Alabama and they do not require titles earlier than 1978. It is legal to move this trailer within 20 of purchase, no problems there. However, PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR DMV about requirements for a trailer this old. Explain that you are doing a complete restoration and bringing it from Alabama. I will provide any needed paper, notarized or what have you, at my expense, if it will help. This is your shot at a rare, 1961 Bambi. This model, restored, has brought as much as $43,000.
