This listing is for a printed sandstone art wall hanging made by the Arizona artist Al Peyron who developed a process of transferring images of Old West photos, many of them famous archival pictures, directly onto pieces of Kaibab sandstone.

Original tag reads: "This stone is called "Kaibab" or mountain lying down and originates from near the Grand Canyon. This photographic process, as with the lost art of tintyping, utilizes a process by which the image is photographically reproduced. Each stone is broken by hand and shaped to compliment the image. Each stone will vary in degree by colors and textures to further enhance the photograph. The process originated in 1971 by Al Peyron of Tucson, Arizona. This fresh approach has provided a full range of artistic control, combining graphic technique, texture, and working relationships of subject and medium." The other side of the tag gives instructions on care of the piece.
