Sir Barton was a chestnut Thoroughbred race horse who had a hard start in life. In 1919 he became the first winner of what would come to be known as the American Triple Crown. In spike of all he won.

He as his father won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont it was in that order. That is why he became the third Triple Crown winner.
