Ameritron AL-1200 Amplifiers feature 1,500 watts of output (one hour continuous) and operate from 160 through 15 meters and may be modified by a licensed user for 12 and 10 meter operations. These amplifiers use a single EimacĀ® 3CX1200Z7 ceramic transmitting tube, a ruggedized version of the \"A7\" (also known as YU-181 for commercial applications) in a class AB2 grounded grid circuit. They have the durability of glass tubes with the power dissipation of ceramic tubes! CW, FM, and RTTY efficiency is improved by shifting the bias deeper into class B. The heavy duty power supply and RF components, combined with a forced air system utilizing a chimney, provide long service life for this expensive component. The AL-1200 amplifiers are shipped factory-wired for 240 V, 50/60 Hz power mains. The super heavy duty power supply that loafs at full legal power, which can deliver power of more than 2,500 watts PEP 2-tone output for a half hour, is what makes the Ameritron AL-1200 amplifiers stand out from the competition! The highly efficient Peter Dahl tape wound Hypersil transformer weighs 32 lbs., which is equivalent to a 45 lb. transformer using standard E-I laminations. You get genuine high-current, full-height, computer-grade capacitors with screw-on terminals--not short, stubby, light duty, soldered-in \"capacitors\" that can\'t dissipate the heat generated by high current. The failure of the carbon-equalizing resistors used in most amplifiers is the primary cause of filter capacitor failures. When a carbon resistor gets hot, its resistance drops, causing more current to flow and the resistor to get hotter. This destructive cycle repeats until the carbon resistor opens and causes excessive voltage on the capacitor, which can cause the capacitor to explode. Carbon equalizing resistors can\'t fail in the AL-1200 amplifiers. Their no-compromise, wire-wound, 7 watt, 50K ohm equalizing resistors safely protect each filter capacitor, unlike the 2 watt, 100K resistors others use. Plus, the lower value resistor gives you better voltage regulation. The AL-1200 rectifier boards use diodes rated for a massive surge current of 200 amps, so you can accidentally short the high voltage supply and the diodes won\'t blow!Technical specifications: Input
