This listing is for a wood tunbridge box of carved cow or ox bone letters used to teach children the alphabet in the mid to late 1800\'s. Very exciting to find this many in one box. I counted 420 letters. There are several sets of alphabet ranging in size from 1/2\" to 3/4\" and most are natural color but some have been dyed red and green as shown. The letters are in good condition for the age. The box has some damage on the back corner as shown but this is the box the letters were found in. On the bottom of the box is engraved Ito to Mildred?
