This casket box or small chest features tooled leather on all sides (except the bottom). Depicted are what appears to be heraldic coats of arms with eagles, interlacing \'celtic\' or \'viking\' style imagery, letters and figures. On the top is a scene of a man slaying a dragon, possibly a reference to St. George. The box overall is in nice solid shape, with no deteriorating or major flaking of the leather. Overall the piece presently nicely. There are worn edges, a chip missing on the top and other wear and discoloration overall, but the presentation is nice and looks like it has a pleasing patina in person. There is no key but the lock looks fully intact. There are bits of text that might be in German. It\'s hard for me to to read the calligraphy letters. 13.5 l x 7.5 t x 9 w approx.
