Antique U.S. Civil War M1860 Cavalry Saber Sword - Ames Chicopee Mass 1864:

Original Civil war Cavalry Officer sword. This is a battle experienced artifact. I have little info on the original soldier but the guard is bent indicating it occurred on the wrist. There are possible signs of wounded soldiers. The blade its self has many contact strike marks as can be seen in some of the blade photos. There is a 70 stamped on the guard. Which unit it saw service in I have not discovered as of yet. This piece has a history needing further investigating.1865 is stamped on the blade, which I have little knowledge of, there were only a few battles in the state of Missouri where this item was acquired and may have seen action in the Indian wars. Because of my reluctance to sell and it\'s apparent historical involvement I have priced this item at what I have determined it value to be.
