Very unusual Apothecary Medicine Doctor Set by Wyeth & Brothers Elegant Pharmaceutical Preparations owned by Dr. D H McIntosh. The set includes 12 glass vials of what we call today \"quack medicine\". The vials still have contents in every one of them. There is a guide attached to the set for preparation purposes. Each vial measures 3.5\" long, 1 vial has the label ripped but still present in the set.

Davis & Lawrence Co Ltd

The origin of the company dates back to 1839 and is intimately linked to the history of Davis Vegetable Painkiller. The American Perry Davis (1791-1862), the creator of this remedy, assured himself selling his product in his country before being joined by his son Edmund 1850: the company took the name of Perry Davis & His. Edmund Davis continued operations under the same name after the death of his father. The company, originally from Providence, Rhode Island, moved to New York in 1895.

In 1867, the Montreal directories indicate the presence of a warehouse Painkiller on St. Paul Street, the company owned Perry Davis & Son. It becomes the Perry Davis & Son & Lawrence to 1875. The books only mention a warehouse until 1876; the following year the company is described as wholesaler of patented drugs.

It was around 1883 that the company became the Lawrence Davis & Co. Ltd., wholesale distributors of pharmaceuticals. In 1888, the book mentions for the first time the company\'s Montreal factory products. Davis & Lawrence also served as an agency for several US companies, including Fellows Medical Mfg. Co. of New York and John Wyeth & Bro. Philadelphia.
