For sale is a Model 1850 Staff and Field Officer Sword. There is no maker mark. There is a name stamped on the guard and on the drag. The name is W. RAUBE. The sword is in very good condition. The guard and pommel have a great deep mustard patina. The grip retains its original shark or ray skin (shagreen) wrap. The original wire is also present. The blade is bright and full length. The etching is visible but has faded with age and cleaning. There is a small piece missing from the floral design in the guard next to the US.The leather scabbard is fragile, but intact. It has reinforcement under the middle band and behind the drag a small addition piece of brass has been slipped in for support. None of this is visible when the saber is on display. The drag is marked W. RAUBE as is the guard.A great relic of the War Between the States !!!Good Luck !!!!Posted with Mobile
