INCLUDES: (1) 51J-4 Receiver with AC Cord + TOP & BOTTOM covers (2) most of the original alignment tools & Bristol Spline Wrenches mounted to the top cover.(3) Factory Manual OPTIONS: NONE, but includes THREE COLLINS MECHANICAL filters COSMETICS: B GOOD overall (1) the front panel and original knobs look GOOD. All writing is legible and easy to read. There are chips on the bottom edge (2) the back panel looks GOOD with all writing legible, but minor blemishes can be seen (3) the TOP & BOTTOM covers look GOOD with minor blemishes present (4) the chassis is clean and appears to be coated with Anti Fungal / Corrosion Coating with all writing legible but minor blemishes (5) the cord/plug look GOOD (6) the frequencies on the drum dial are legible, but minor blemishes can be seen on some band segments (7) the COLLINS ID tag looks GOOD. (8) there is old/dry leakage around the transformer, which does NOT effect performance. The transformer does NOT run hot during use.*** SEE LARGE PHOTOS!*** BULBS WORK: YES MALFUNCTIONS: (1) The receiver works on ALL band segments with NO hum. ON THE AIR SIGNALS OR CALIBRATION MARKS WERE HEARD on each band segment.(2) All controls function, but the CRYSTAL PHASING & BFO appear to need alignment. (3) the 7.5-8.5 mHz band is full of birdies & howling***THIS IS NOT A RESTORED RECEIVER: tubes and components have not been tested. The date of last alignment and service are unknown. COMMENTS: This 51J-4 was made during the late 50s and is still considered a GOOD PERFORMER! It includes the SUPERB COLLINS MECHANICAL FILTERS for 800 Hz, 3.1 & 6.0 kHz selectivity + CRYSTAL PHASING.
