Extremely nice early solid brass Adlake Adams & Westlake railroad candle lantern complete with globe, mounting bracket & new clean burning fuel insert. This is the early Patd. Sept. 10 1907 solid brass model. Later models were brass plated. This lantern has the original machined brass wall mounting bracket. Stamped reproductions are available but this has the real deal. Also included is a new very clean burning liquid paraffin lamp oil insert specially produced for this style lantern. These were used in railroad dining cars, cabooses and railway post office cars. They were mounted to a wall with the included bracket and are easily removed with a nice carrying handle to be a portable lantern. Originally they used solid fuel candles and were a bit messy with melting wax. This one is very clean and in great original shape with the perfect patina. 11 inches tall from bottom to top of glass shade. A must have for the serious RR collector. Requires the original internal spring which originally pushed the candles upwards to be removed to burn the liquid fuel inserts.
