True confession time. Did you ever fall in love, only to find yourself blind to the flaws of the objection of your affection?
Was it worth in the end?
That\'s kind of what happened when I first spotted this gorgeous Chesterton set from Harkerware. I loved the rich charcoal gray color, and I\'m always a sucker for a gadroon, or rope, edge. I loved the way the square salad plate looked on the round dinner plate, especially when the little bread plate was placed atop the salad plate. Loved the creamy insides of the coffee cups.
I ran my fingers around the edges of the dishes when I first bought the set, and knew there were a few chips. But don\'t all us vintage beauties come with some battle scars? I didn\'t know, till I sat down to write up this listing, just how many flaws this lovely set would have. (At latest count, I think I found 11 chips! Yikes.) The good news is, nearly all are under the rims so most are not noticeable from the top of the plates. (I mean, I didn\'t notice them, right?) I\'m hoping someone else will fall in love with this set\'s charm and be willing to overlook its minor, albeit numerous, flaws.
So, without further ado, here is everything that is included in this listing:

EIGHT dinner plates, 10 1/4 inches in diameter, four with chips -- three of which are under the rim (on the back)/ one is on the front, still usable (in my opinion, please see our photo);
EIGHT salad plates, 8 1/4 inches square, three with chips under the rim (on the back);
EIGHT bread and butter plates, 6 1/4 inches in diameter, two with under-the-rim chips;
EIGHT cups, 3 3/4 inches in diameter, 2 3/4 inches deep, no chips (how\'d that happen?);
EIGHT saucers, 6 1/4 inches in diameter (no chips, yay! although saucers have different marks and one looks a little different as per our photo, but no chips!);
ONE oval serving bowl, 9 1/2 inches by 7 inches, 2 inches deep, one chip on the front, still usable, please see our photo; and
ONE oval platter, 13 1/2 inches by 9 3/4 inches (no chips).
