IRON HEIANJO TSUBA CONVERTED TO POLE ARMIRON TSUBA-83X82X5mm, iron Heianjo tsuba with brass inlaid flowers and vines. Grass trimmed nawame (rope) border. Four heart shaped (boar\'s eyes) openings. Early Edo period. What makes this a rare find for the Heianjo collector is that it has been altered for use on a pole arm (perhaps a naginata or jumonji yari) long ago and shows use. Some brass missing, most from the nawame border. THIS TSUBA IS ILLUSTRATED ON PAGES 106 AND 107 IN THE BOOK \"ONIN-HEIANJO-YOSHIRO\" BY GARY MURTHA. THE BOOK IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE HERE IN MY STORE.
