Rare Vintage Large Double Mouse Trap (German Made?)(another example in Museum is German made, I can only find museum examples) This is an incredible handmade mouse killing machine. This type of mouse trap was made from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. When the mouse went in and pressed down a balance in the center while eating grain or corn a heavy wood block fell down and killed it. Later mouse traps worked with metal springs. This trap is good for two mice.Apparatus design similar to a guillotine, with a free falling wood block being
the instrument of death.
Not an easy item to find and truly a wonderful edition to any collectionFew such mouse traps survive today as most were worn out and thrown away!
Incredible craftsmanship (Iā€™m going to say German workmanship maybe even an immigrant of Black Forrest, just a guess?!)Not sure on age my guess 1800-1900 older? old piece!Condition: Defiantly used wear in all the right places.... it appears everything is all original, I think only the strings have been replaced.
Size Large/Heavy Approximately: 18ā€ X 16ā€
BEST CONVERSATION PIECE I HAVE EVER OWNED!
Pictures tell the story...If you have ANY questions at all, do not hesitate to ask! Condition exactly as seen in photos.
You will get what you see.I consider all photos a part of description so please
