<img border=\"0\"><br><a target=\"_blank\"><img border=\"0\"></a>Very interesting piece... this is a large counter table top writing desk that has metal side brackets with an unknown monogrammed logo. I can see an \"M\", \"V\", \"C\", \"L\", \"O\"... I keep thing \"County Memorial Library\" which leaves \"V\" and \"O\" and whatever else I am missing. There are 2 ink well openings and a slot on the face of the front for the merchant to slide in tickets or money.. the lid has a stable crack in the wood and there are various marks in the wood, some natural and some from use. There are some light etchings in the top writing area from a bored employee! These are light and not immediately noticeable. I feel that maybe the brackets are on backwards as the logo in the right order faces inward as seen in the pictures.. I also feel that the removable upper shelf panel may be an early replacement as the grains look slightly different. LOADED with character, this large desk measures about 30\" across, 23\" wide and 16\" tall to the top of the upper level. It is very sturdy and weighs about 40 pounds. It is missing one screw on the inside hinge, it has the outline of brackets and screw holes on the underside and 4 modern screws on the underside that look to have been used to secure the bottom boards to the sides of the desk. I would surmise that this was once mounted to a pedestal or a counter of some sort.
