100% guarantee as original D.J. Millard Civil War contractsword. This sword was one of the swords contracted by the United States army as evidenced by the inspector initials \"CEW\" (Charles Wilson) and dated 1862. This is most certainly a Civil War period piece.

Note the inspector initials appear on the pommel, blade and scabbard. This indicates that the scabbard is original to the sword.

Note the picture of the scabbard seam. This is how an original Civil War period scabbard should be.... tubular steel scabbards did not exist at this time.
