M7 BAYONET

W/ M10 SCABBARD

WE HAVE HAD: IMPERIAL,MILPAR, CONETTA, & GEN CUT M7 BAYONETS IN THE PAST. THIS IS OUR FIRST ROUND OF ONTARIO BAYONETSAND THESE ARE THE BEST QUAILTY M7 BAYONETS WE HAVE SEEN. THE ONLY FIT AND FINISH ISSUE WITH THESE ISAN 1/8TH OF AN INCH GAP BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE GRIP AND THEPOMMEL. IN RESEARCHING FOR THIS LISTINGTHE GAP SEEMS TO BE COMMON IN LATE MODEL ONTRIO M7’S. SOME OPINE THAT THE GAP IS AN EFFORT TO KEEPTHE PLASTIC GRIP SCALES FROM CRACKING (A COMMON ISSUE) WHEN USED AS A THRUSTINGWEAPON AFFIXED TO THE END OF A RIFLE.

THESE ONTARIO M7 BAYONETSWERE MANUFACTURED IN OR ABOUT 2007 FOR US MILITARY CONTRACT BUT REMAIN UNISSUED& UNUSED.

ABOUTthe M-7 Bayonet-Knife (FROM OLIVE-DRAB[DOT]COM):

The M-7 bayonet-knife isused as a bayonet on the Eugene Stoner series rifle and as a hand weapon, fighting knife. The M-7 entered service in 1964 when the New Model Rifle wasphased in to U.S. military service.

The M-7 blade and hilt arevery similar to the former bayonet with the Korean War era plastic grips for the earlier Carbine except that the M-7 has a much larger muzzle ring. The M-7 has thesame two-lever locking mechanism as the previous Bayonet, that connects to a lug onthe rifle barrel. The M-7 will fit the Civilian as well as the Militaryfamily of rifles, including the current Carbine. Other military firearms, such as combat shotguns, have been fitted with this bayonet using Adapters w/ aBayonet Lug.

The M-7 1095 carbon steelblade is 6 3/4 inches long, with an overall length of 11.9 inches. Blade widthis 7/8 inch and it weighs about 9.6 ounces. One edge is sharpened its fulllength while to opposite side of the blade has approximately 3 inchessharpened. There are no markings on the blade itself. The manufacturer'sinitials or name along with "US M7" will be found stamped under thecrossguard (see photo, right). The non-slip grips are molded black plastic. Thesteel parts have a uniform dark grey/black parkerized finish.

The M-7 bayonet is NSN1005-00-017-9701. The initial contrator was Bauer Ord Company. Colt(manufacturer of the Rifle) and Ontario Knife Company made many of the M-7bayonets for the military and continue to make and sell them commercially.Other manufacturers included Carl Eickhorn [for Colt], Columbus Milpar &Mfg. (MIL-PAR), Conetta Mfg., Frazier Mfg., General Cutlery (GEN CUT), andImperial Knife. About 3 million M-7 bayonets were delivered.
