Ancient pre columbian Salado Indian red clay smudged bowl. An absolute classic american piece and hard to find. This comes from the Tonto Basin in Arizona. It is a mid sized bowl that has had no repairs and in really amazingly shape for its age which dates between 1150 - 1300 ce. The rim has no chips and there have been no repairs. There is a crack however extending from the rim down to the mid section the crack measures 2 3/4 inches and is visible inside and outside as pictured above. The crack is the only damage on the piece and it is still an amazing artifact. Inside is black smudge. The bowl measures in at about 3 3/4 inches tall X about 7 1/2 inches rim to rim. This piece is the best of the best when it comes to pre columbian native american pottery. Please feel free to email any questions.
