RARE antique vintage Emblem ERIE bicycle Angola, NY, 1920-1930s Pre-WWII:

The Emblem Manufacturing Company of Angola, New York was a company formed in 1899 that produced both bicycles and motorcycles under their own name and a variety of other badged names such as those produced for Shapleigh’s Hardware Stores in the 1930s. The company, according to existing records, began building bicycles in late 1903 in Lake View, NY and moved to Angola, NY in late 1904. The motorcycle line was discontinued in the mid-late twenties but bicycle production continued until 1939 in very small numbers. In 1918, the Emblem Manufacturing Company purchased the Pierce Cycle Company (later Pierce-Arrow) assets and revised the nameplate to reflect the change from Buffalo, New York to Angola, New York. They produced bikes under the Pierce name as well as their own brand only until 1939.

This full size courier type vintage bicycle was found in an old barn in rural North Carolina and from the nameplate, it is the \"Erie\" Model, originally a medium blue in color and possibly with white pinstripes, as evidenced from traces of original paint visible under the badge and in other areas. The old gem is now overall brown from oxidation of decades of being in a hot, dusty barn. It appears the tires long rotted away.

It appears to be complete other than missing the seat and one pedal...interestingly, the inside of the rims are lined with wood which likely indicates 1930\'s manufacture. The fenders are very solid and do not have a lot of dings or dents. It rolls easily and freely. If you ask specific questions, I will do my best to give specific answers...I don\'t know a lot about these!
