The original condition is amazing fora lantern this early. The tin finish is beautiful with just normal surface wear and nice patina, not cleaned! There are no dents or dings or repairs, no rusted through holes. The trueAmerican Primitive Ingenuity in this piece is Fabulous! Take a minute and enlarge all the photos and just look at how nicely made this lantern is. The hanging candle holder is removable as it hangs on a hook. The thick glass is wonderful and has a hole on the bottom for the waxto drain? or to vent?THIS IS THE ONLY FAULT I can point out in this lantern, there is a tight hairline crack at the back as pictured, It is not noticeable at all from the front but it is there.
