When I found this I set it down and almost walked away , then I realized \"Hey, this isn\'t a Coleman, it has a steel tank\" !
This is a pretty scarce ( rare ? ) lantern for camping , house, barn Made by The Best Light Co. ( Company ) of Canton, Ohio, Model 304 . It is circa 1915 to 1921 or so, the company didn\'t last into the mid 1920\'s I believe. First, the good . These seem to be pretty scarce. The logo stamped on the bottom is clear and readable. The cap is in excellent condition , I replaced the rusty ball valve . The tube that holds the mantle has been replaced with a cut down Coleman tube that was correctly threaded with the proper die I bought specially for the purpose of restoring this lantern.It has a plastic Globe on metal frame for display purpose only . Everything else seems to be original. It would make a unique addition to a lantern collection and display very well once it is finished and painted.
The bad:They were made of all steel. When I found this , it was painted all black ( good ) but it had pinholes in the font tank . I sealed some with JB-WELD and actually fired this once , but it needs to have the tank sealed with FUEL TANK SEALER to seal it , and I WOULD NOT RECOMMENDTRYING TO USE THIS LANTERN unless you really have experience restoring these to a usable state . IT IS SOLD FOR DISPLAY ONLY . Anything else is up to you .

I have only seen 3 online, and one was in a collection in Japan.
