After the twin victories of Manila Bay and Santiago de Cuba in the Spanish-American War, the US Navy transformed from a small coastal fleet to a growing seapower capable of projecting force on a global scale. US Navy officers in the early 1900s carried their .38 revolvers in a specially designed dark navy blue canvas pistol holster produced by the famous Mills Woven Cartridge Belt Co. of Worcester, Mass. This US Navy Early 1900s Pre-WW1 OFFICER MILLS .38 REVOLVER CANVAS PISTOL HOLSTER is in very good condition, with two small loose threads at the upper left side, a ridge dent in the bottom end cap, some light verdigris patina to the rivets along the upper right side, and with some light overall \"browning\" and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the holster is in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the tough dark navy blue canvas construction. Most interestingly, it boasts a fully functional US Navy darkened brass \"eagle snap\" closure front flap, sports a fully intact darkened brass \"hinged\" wire hanger at the upper back, and is unmarked as to its maker or date, though is confirmed to be of Mills manufacture.
