For your inspection:

A VERY nice Royal Mariner ship\'s clock and barometer by Schatz & Sohne. I\'m, hesitantly, having to cut down on my personal collection, therefore I am offering another of my favorite items.

This clock and barometer are both quite nice. The case on each one is very clean and in blemish free. Especially for a clock that is, at least, 40+ years old.

The glasses are scratch and chip free. The bezels are in wonderful shape and with a few light scratches. The faces are as near perfect as I have seen in a long time. Both of the cases have very minor splits in them that have been repaired and are almost unnoticeable.

The clock is running well and properly striking the ship\'s bells. It may need adjustment after its arrival. The bells may be silenced with a screw on the back. It is supplied with a winding key.

The barometer, if you will notice, is measuring in centimeters as well as millibars and is working properly, it may need adjusting to its final elevation. This is accomplished by a screw adjustment through the back plate.

The clock and barometer are mounted so as to display hanging horizontally. Each could be removed and turned 90 degrees to display vertically if one should desire.

The diameter of the faces are about 6.25 inches and about 3.75 inches deep. The overall length and width is 24\" by 11 1/2\".

The S&H&I will be free with the \'Buy It Now\', otherwise the TOTAL S&H&I will be $28 for the lower 48 states. All others will need to be quoted. If you want to know the reserve price, just ask.

I want to add that I have numerous spare parts for these clock movements that I am willing to sell. So don\'t hesitate to ask about them.

The exceptions being any platform pieces as they are in very short supply.

The ship\'s bell sequence is as follows:

1 bell12:30

2 bells1:00

3 bells1:30

4 bells2:00

5 bells2:30

6 bells3:00

7 bells3:30

8 bells4:00

then it starts over at

1 bell4:30

2 bells5:00

etc.

This is the way the 4 hour watch duty was measured and timed. I got to where I really liked the way 8 bell system worked when I was in the U.S.N. during the Vietnam War and knew no other way to announce the time of day (or night) other than with the striking of the bells.

The son of an old friend of mine, who was a retired Master Chief Boatswain\'s Mate, returned from the Navy a couple of years ago and informed me that this system is no longer used. He didn\'t even know what it was! Too bad. The old ways have been replaced. But, that\'s the way with all things. C\'est l\'amore, c\'est la vie, c\'est la guerre...

I will only ship to a PayPal verified address.

Even though it says I will ship worldwide, I will NOT ship to some countries (Italy, for one) due to the amount of problems encountered with their postal service or the inability to obtain insurance. Please check with me before offerding if you are outside the continental United States. All damage claims for shipments outside the continental U.S. must be handled via the carrier claim process and by the recipient. Also, I will NOT falsify customs forms!

If you are in need of any more information or pictures, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for looking,

My buddy Harry, in the last picture, is exercising his duties as \'straw boss\". Since his age has depleted his eyesight and hearing he can no longer see what needs to be done and cannot hear the ticking of the clocks.
