This pair of 1933 copper and brass bookends by the Chase Brass & Copper Co. of Waterbury, Conn., is a beautiful example of modernist industrial design with a sly nod to the past. The \"Colonial\" bookends appeared in the company\'s 1933 catalogue and feature industrial sheets of brass and copper and machined screws and nuts, all assembled into this handsome functional design. The curved top of the bookends has an indented accent reminiscent of \"tipped\" patterned flatware of Colonial design. These stunning bookends are in very good condition for their age and would complement home or office decor of Art Deco, Modernist, Industrial, Arts & Crafts, Art Moderne, and Eclectic styles, among others. Each bookend measures appx. 6\" tall and about 5-1/2\" at the widest point of the base plus handle.
