Vintage French Staunton Chess set inwood box 3-3/8” king

Here is a very nice vintage Staunton chess set made in France (most likely by Lardy International).Lardy International was an important French chess piece manufacturer, situated inDortan in the French Jura. The companyhad a reputation for making fine pieces, and their sets were in high demandhere in the US. The company is long gone now, making theirsets even more sought after by collectors the world over. This is an older set from the 1960s. It was manufactured from natural and ebonizedboxwood in Jaques Staunton pattern made famousby Jaques of London in 1849. All 32 highquality pieces are weighted and felted, and the knight\'s heads look really nice aswell. The king measures 3-3/8\" witha base diameter of approximately 1-3/8 inches (34mm). The set is completeand in excellent condition. The set comes in a nice wood (maple) box.There is a label on the bottom of the box that says: “Made in France”.
