Vintage Singer 185K Singer Sewing Machine Completely Redone and Custom Painted:

Up for sale is my Singer 185K. According to the Singer website serial number EP038185 was manufactured in 1959. The 185K was manufactured for the UK market while the 185J was made for the US market. I completely repainted the machine with that history in mind. I went with a black and white themed paint job but used the British, Union Jack, Flag on the bed of the machine, I also put singer on either side of the machine and \"Made in England\" as well. I custom fabricated and tig welded a steel base that allows the machine to be used on just about any table top. I also custom painted the stand I made with \"A Stitch in Time...\" of course this is the first have of the phrase \"A stitch in time saves nine\". Of course it will still fit in a cabinet if you wish to use it that way. The paint is all done with the Dupont Chromasystem professional automotive paint sprayed with and HVLP spray gun each color has three coats and then three coats of clear on top of that.
When I got the machine (also see \"before\" picture) the lens was missing. I did some research and found out that the light design is known for getting quite hot and the lens is usually removed. I thought it best to keep the components as original as possible, while the light does work and turn on I have been using a lamp anyway when I sew with it. I have been completly through the machine and all seems to be working fine. That said, while you are buying a functional sewing machine you should also keep in mind that it is 50+ year old technology and an art piece, you should be buying it for those aspects more than anything.
