The skates are solid, but you can see wear and rust per what you see in the pictures. They\'re a true blast from the past. The straps and the key all work and the key adjusts the front to fit on a shoe. I bought them on to use as a show n\' tell artifact at my granddaughter\'s school\'s grandparent\'s day presentation since these are just what I used to have when I was her age. They were a big hit with the 2nd graders and the other grandparents!
