Here\'s a very example of a first period Western W49 bowie knife with original sheath that dates to the early 1960\'s. These were very popular private-purchase fighting knives for guys heading to Vietnam. Knife measures 14.75\" overall with the blade being about 9.5\". Unsharpened and just about MINT. Sharp as a razor. Big clip point. It may have been carried but I can\'t see that it was ever used. Has \"BOWIE\" stamped on one side of the tang and WESTERN BOULDER COLO USA on the other side. Thick \"S\" shaped brass cross guard. Handles are the thin profile walnut slab design which differs from the thicker rosewood handles used in later years. Pistol grip pommel. Original sheath shows some wear but is all there. No keeper strap and I can\'t see where one would have attached.
