Original WWII US Army handcart M3A4 built by Rock Island Arsenal in 1943. The Mortar Round and cardboard tubes in the firstand thirdpictures ARE NOT INCLUDED! Rock Island transitioned from Aluminum to Steel carts in 1943 before ceasing production to other manufacturers. This is an early steel cart. Most RIA steel cartshad dozens of pre-drilled holes in the body for different applications, but not the early ones. No holes have ever been drilled in this body which is correct. This is exactly how I found this cart. It was purchased this year in Nashville TN from a retired farmer who was the first owner. He purchased it in the 1950s from a surplus store here in Nashville and said he never really used it. It was kept in a barn out of the weather. When I got it there was only surface rust and the metal was perfectly straight. I did no metal repair work and there is no bondo in this. The cart was taken apart, sand blasted, primed in Red Oxideand painted in TM9 OD#8. The bearings and races looked great and I cleaned and repacked the bearings. The tires did not survive and they have been replaced with new tractor tires. Also the drawbar is a reproduction. Everything else is original and as found. Rolls smooth. These fit fine on jeep pintles. You can also upgrade with a set of MG 1917a1 tripod brackets and shoot your water cooled gun from the cart.
