Conditions: Fine colors and impression .Light toning and slight soiling, as is common in these Kuchi-e pieces. The print is folded vertically (now flattened) as are all kuchi-e prints (because of their use), so this is not a negative. The work is a Kuchi-e print by Yoshiiku. He was one of the leading artists of the Meiji period.He was an important woodblock printmaker of the Meiji Period. He was a disciple of Kuniyoshi We can feel the influence of the tradition in the print. Kuchi-e are woodblock-printed frontispiece illustrations produced for publication in Japanese novels and literary magazines at the turn-of-the-century (1895-1912). The book is a magazine about Kabuki(Japanese theatre)This print represents a a beauty and two samurais. The Kuchi-e print is in his original condition ( inserted in the book).
