Good ol' American quality and workmanship in these old generators. This one spruced up my old red lantern just like new-cranks some serious light out now using non Coleman mantles. When installing a new generator, first of all make sure there is no packaging adhesive residue left on the generator tube. Use spray carb cleaner and a clean blue paper towel to make sure all adhesive is removed from the tube. If it isn't all removed, a thick black residue will insulate the generator tube and affect fuel atomization efficiency thus making the lantern burn dim. Next, follow directions on package closely and/or use you tube for help-it works! The cleaning wire in a generator is VERY fragile and can be damaged by rough handling and improper alignment. Patience and careful assembly is key! Check to make sure the generator nut is good and snug. Snug enough to not leak when in operation but not over tight like lug nuts on a truck. Follow lighting instructions. Enjoy your lantern and some top of the line American design and engineering. Read full review

A factory replacement part for Coleman lanterns. A new generator is a key component in getting an older Coleman lantern back running strong. Old generators can sometimes be cleaned up to improve function. However, around $10...give or take a couple bucks, a new generator sometime is the key to easier consistent lighting and a good strong burn. Coleman enthusiast always need a few on hand. JUST REMEMBER to get the correct model for your application. The 220 two mantel stlye will NOT fit the 200a single mantel and visa versa.

Exactly what my Coleman Lantern model 286 and 288 needed to work again. Arrived on time and in excellent condition. Instillation was simple and worked flawlessly. Good price for an obsolete part. Now I can use the lantern I got for my eighth birthday in 1984 again.

Can't go wrong with original parts. Don't ever settle for some aftermarket parts that may fit, go with originals. These fit perfectly, and for the price, it's easy to make the decision to replace rather than try and make the old one work.
