Dark Shadows-The original Classic from the TV series.
How could I say anything bad about this movie. The House of Dark Shadows was made in 1971 by Dan Curtis. The movie was based upon the TV Soap Opera, Dark Shadows. Most of the actors and actresses were from the TV show. Jonathan Frid played Barnabas, Laura Parker played Angelique, and Katherine Leigh Scott played Josette Collins. For any Dark Shadows fan, this is a movie to get. I missed the movie when it came out in 1971, but now I have it. The Movie was filmed on Location at Lyndhurst Castle, which is located in Tarrytown, NY. This was a "new" location for Collinwood since the Collinwood that we all knew, that watched the TV series, was Seaview Castle. This massive structure is located in Newport,RI. I am a member of the Dark Shadows Fan Club. Every year we have a festival and this years festival was located at Lyndhurst Castle. It was awesome. If you are a Dark Shadows fan, then get this movie and it's sequel "Night of Dark Shadows."Read full review

GREAT SETTING AND OR STAGING.A MOVIE WITH MANY GOOD SCENES,CAROLYNN AT THE POOL ,WILLEY GOING DOWN INTO THE CRYPT -TO NAME A FEW. NO OVER DONE BLOODY OR SEX SCENCES.GREAT BACKGROUND MUSIC THAT COMPLEMENTS THE SCENES AT HAND.ONE OF THE FIRST IF NOT THE FIRST MOVIE MADE FROM A TV DAYTIME SERIES.GREAT MULTIPLE PLOTSTHAT ARE DONE VERY WELL.A DEFINITE TOP 10 OR TOP 5,DEPENDING ON THE RATER.HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS PUSHED THE LIMITS OF REALISM ON FILM FOR THE TIME (1970 )OF IT'S DEBUT AT THE THEATERS.A MUST FOR VAMPIRE MOVIE HISTORY FAN AND VAMPIRE MOVIE FANS IN GENERAL.

I was very excited about this movie - I have watched the entire series and it took me over a year - I was to young to remember it when it was orginally on. This movie was very good - Not great - but it was the typical Dark Shadows - I did not like the ending.
