Originally released in November of 1992, 2 years after the first film, "Home Alone 2: Lost In New York" remains as the best film of the entire "Home Alone" series. Bringing back the cast from the first film, Kevin McCallister and his family are taking a vacation to Florida. At the airport Kevin loses his family and accidentally gets on a plane to New York City. After enjoying himself there for a while, he runs into his old enemies, Harry and Marv, who have escaped from prison. After finding out they are planning to steal from a toy store, he sets up a plan to put them behind bars once again. He sets up traps in an old house, and defeats the duo. Afterwards, he is reunited with his family. Macauley Culkin reprises his role as the young Kevin McCallister, who outwits the bad guys Harry and Marv, once again played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. As in the first film, Kevin sets up a series of booby-traps for the dimwitted bumbling crooks, who are both determined more than ever to finish off Kevin once and for all. Kevin also befriends a homeless "pigeon" lady (Brenda Fricker), due to her affection for this spieces of birds. British character actor Tim Curry is a real delight as the hotel concierge. Like the film "Angels With Filthy Souls" in the first film, Kevin watches and uses a video titled "Angels With Even Filthier Souls". It is not a real film but specially-created footage. Both movies were a homage to the 1939 film "Angels With Dirty Faces". There were also 2 more films in the series produced, in 1997 and 2002; but, it is this 2nd film that remains the best of the lot.Read full review
Home Alone at Christmas Time. What else needs to be said? Kevin is once again separated from his family and all alone in New York. And the two squirrely criminals are out to get even and settle the score from their last encounter. Love the slap stick humor and the traps that Kevin sets. Loved the bird woman in the park. (Reminds me of the bird woman in Mary Poppins). And certainly would not fail to mention the Polka Band. Roll that all together and you have another wonderful Christmas movie that's sure to entertain and please anyone who watches it.
