inches wide, 14.75 inches high. Extremely thick and heavy brass, weighs ten pounds. Exceptional quality. No damage or repairs, just some wear to the black filler on the recessed lettering. The grommets on the back are original to the sign, they are needed to support the weight of this large and heavy piece. This is a truly incredible historical artifact regarding the history of Victorian-era jews in England. I tried to find similarly designed / constructed examples doing a Google image search and found one, seen in the last photo. A brass plaque with recessed lettering having a black filler, enclosed in a frame motif. That brass memorial plaque is at St. Peter and St. Paul`s Church, King`s Sutton, Northamptonshire, England and states "Placed by former pupils in memory of Richard Weston Leonard MA xxxviii [38] years vicar of this parish who died October iv [4] mdccclxi [1861] aged lxxxiii [84] and was buried at Newbottle."
