The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents an Antique Herschede 5 Tube, 1-Piece Mahogany Long Case Grandfather Clock. Circa: 1914. Very tall at 92”, the clock has an 8-day movement, chimes Westminster on the quarter hours, and strikes the hour. On the clock face, far left, is a Chime/Silence selector on the far right, a Strike/Silence selector. Access doors on either side have carved insets backed with fabric; the clockworks’ back is covered with the same fabric. The square brass foliate face has 2 wind holes — a rarity for a Westminster clock. The clock houses an early, compound mechanism that goes from chime to strike. The dial is made of heavy brass, with raised, delicately hand-pierced and hand-engraved center ornaments and corners, richly gold plated. The numeral circle, hemispheres, moon arch, and shifting circle are raised and have black enamel ornamentations and are hand silvered. The numerals are raised, bevel-edged, and gold plated. Above the hands is a small, round face with black second hand. Rolling moon dial has a hand painted scene of a ship sailing the high seas. The clock has been meticulously maintained and has recently been cleaned, oiled, polished and lacquered, and given new cables. NOTE: The clock will fit into a room with an 8-foot ceiling. INCLUDED: 3 original keys include wind-up key with wooden handle; front door key; side key that fits both side doors. DIMENSIONS: 92”H x 28”W x 18”D. CONDITION: Very Good + .
