A broadsword is for sale, on the butt of the blade it is written that it is made of LSPO (Cast steel by Pavel Obukhov), Zlatoust, year 1857. The blade has a slight bend, there are minor signs of wear, the tip of the blade has traces of corrosion, look at my photos. The blade has been cleaned, the blade bears acceptance marks on different sides. The blade bears the mark 3 R-3 company and then the registration number is 24.There is no scabbard.In the Russian Imperial Navy in 1856, the lower ranks of the Naval Department replaced engineer and ship artillery axes with boarding broadswords. In 1858, the broadswords became the property of the midshipmen.
The broadsword was used in the navy until the end of the 19th century. The sailors of the guards crew wore naval broadswords until 1905, when they were replaced with cutlasses.
Until 1917, midshipmen of the Naval Corps, the Naval Engineering School of Emperor Nicholas I and the Separate Midshipman Classes wore a broadsword as an accessory to their naval uniform.
