This is an tintype image purchased from an estate in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2010. My brother, Robert, and I have been selling these estate items on for over 20 years and have ONLY & ALL POSITIVE response. I am selling my private collection starting with a tintype image of William Bonney Jr and Dan Dedrick from the 1880's.

There was the article "The Many Faces of Billy The Kid" written in True West Magazine by Robert G. McCubbin in May of 2007. It details the images created of BTK for newprint and book covers. I just enlarged my tintype to different sizes and placed them over the images like displayed in the magazine article. This may offend some fans of Billy, but he was dating a rich girl who said in the article, he sure liked to dress up and go out in the evening. So here he and his best friend , Dan, are out on the town and the Maxwell girl had it out on her tab at the store.

We believe we have the image used for the first book written of Billy for the reprint cover for the Pat Garret book. ( See Photos)

I was very disappointed I could not share my estate find image with Robert McCubbin. I would have thanked him for the detailed article about the many artist interpretations I believe were based on this tintype. He unfortunately passed away before I could contact him.

I purchased boxes of images from 2008 to 2018. This tintype was in a box of different photos being sold by an estate liquidation and purchased in a lot. It wasn't till COVID did I start my research and discovery. All experts want to see some paper trail associated with my image. I tell them to read the article " The Many Faces of Billy The Kid' in True West.

I have included a photo comparison of the ONLY authentic photo of Billy The Kid, owned originally by Dan Dedrick who is seated next to Billy with his left arm on the post next to him.

I have put the images in the article from the magazine that seem to confirm visually that this image was used by numerous artists to create the covers for different published books.

We have enlarged the tintype at 10x magnification and the tintype has all the proper markings(white dots in a pattern) to verify the age as from the period William Bonney was still alive. It is a fact that tintype images can not be copied with those identifying white dots.
