An authentic and impressively scaled terracotta horse sculpture from the Sui Dynasty (581–618 CE), created as a mingqi (明器) or funerary companion. Hand-formed in red earthenware, the horse stands tall with a proud bearing and subtle sculptural modeling. The piece is unglazed, allowing the raw surface texture and construction to speak to its early origin.

Originally buried alongside the deceased, this figure reflects beliefs in continued service and protection in the afterlife.
