This is an authentic iron ring from a pack saddle, part of U.S. military mule equipment used during the Indian Wars period.


According to the reference image shown (Lot 231, “Military Mule Equipment”), this type of item was found along the Retreat Route associated with General Custer’s pack train. The original group consisted of mule shoes, buckles, and iron rings; this piece appears to be one of those pack saddle rings described in that set.


A rare and genuine artifact of 19th-century U.S. military history. Displays beautifully for collectors of Custer, Little Bighorn, or Indian Wars militaria.
