Sword acquired at sale in Japan, in 2008. Imported to the USA in 2016.
A Magnificent Japanese early Edo Period Katana - ca. 1630-1650.A magnificent Tsuba with great detail and craft-work. The Tsuka (grip) is in excellent condition, and features magnificent shark skin leather and decorative accents.
The blade is in excellent condition and was professionally polished in 2016.
Please see signatures / inscriptions - shown in the pictures.Sword is in a beautifully aged honoki wood Saya, in black lacquer.This is well over 500 years ole and is a true museum piece and would be a great add to an antique arms and armor collection!
