A super quality antique English highcarat gold (tests around 22 carat) ring; wonderfully made, with a faceted-edge crystal holding a finely hand painted on vellumportrait ofCharles Edward Stuart, aka 'Bonnie Prince Charlie'. The rounded back finely engraved with stylised thistle motifs.

A scarce and early collectible ... truly a museum worthy piece!!

CONDITION: Very good. Slightest signs of wear & fading to paint commensurate with age and use. Some warping and shrinkage to miniature edges - see pictures. Originally a slide, lower carat shank & outer bezel rim mount added later.

DATE/MARKS: Mid 18th Century. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS:Crystal 19 x 15mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

RING SIZE:J or5 US (can be resized within reason).

WEIGHT: Approx. 6.8grams.
