Approximate Dimensions: 56mm x 35mm x 13mmEvidently within the last century Hope's Nose, situated in Torquay has become one of the most Iconic British locations for fine quality crystalline Gold. The Gold is highly distinctive for forming in a rich cherry red, pink & creamy coloured Calcite. Another truly unique characteristic of this Devonshire Gold is the formation of dendritic fern-like fronds.Originally, Gold from this location was first documented in a small local news article in the 1920's by a small group on a field trip. The article got overlooked by many, however Sir Arthur Russell had the permission to visit and take some samples for his personal collection. It was not until the 1970's when a father and son were walking their dog and had seen Gold glistening on the bedrock, which was then reported to the local Torquay Museum. After that many mineral collectors brought back specimens. However, it is now strictly prohibited to take any samples.This specimen features several fine fern-like fronds of Palladian Gold which look superb under magnification. The Calcite is typically soaked in acid to expose the Gold as can be seen on this specimen. Please note, that due to the delicate nature, this specimen should be handled with the utmost care.
