Walking from the townscape of Arita Uchiyama towards Izumiyama you will come across a large ginkgo tree that catches your eye. This ginkgo tree known as Daikoubunsugi is located within the premises of the Izumiyama Benzaiten Shrine. It is likely the largest ginkgo tree in Japan with an estimated age of about 1 000 years standing at 40 meters tall with a circumference of 18 meters and a massive east-west branch spread of 31 meters. During the "Autumn Arita Porcelain Festival" held from mid to late November the entire tree's leaves turn yellow creating a romantic walkway with a yellow carpet at its feet.Tonbai Fence

Traditional wisdom handed down through the ages is preserved in various places throughout the town.
